A Celebration Goddess Shoot - April 12, 2023

It all begins with an idea. This photoshoot was an idea I had for a friend I met a couple of years ago. Just after I “met” her through social media, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

This shoot was more than “just” Empowerment. Kelly celebrated her birthday just two days before this shoot. Every year is a gift. So, I brought along some balloons. It actually made for some funny outtakes as balloons kind of do what they wish. The final picture you see on the internet may take some time and shots to get. Some of these outtakes gave me a chuckle as I remember shooting with her that day.

This Goddess Session was a reminder you never know what someone may be dealing with on the day to day. Granted, we planned this session around Kelly’s chemo and she rocked her session but living with Cancer can make you feel like you’re not a Goddess. In Kelly’s words: “As I've endured the past two years of chemotherapy for Stage 4 Colon Cancer, I find myself feeling old, unhealthy, and worn down. It has tested my faith and has shaken my confidence. This Goddess Session gave me an opportunity to celebrate LIFE! Kim guided me every step of the way, encouraging me to overcome my self doubt. I treated myself to a new dress, and a crown! How frivolous! I had a reason to wear makeup and fix my hair. With the side effects of chemo, my appearance had been a source of sadness. I felt so beautiful for my photo shoot!”
